Many people look to a 3 day-detox regime as a diet for immediate weight reduction and others use it as a cleansing routine. People commonly start a detox regime for one of three reasons: weight loss, cleansing the body of toxins, or to “quick start” a weight loss program or other life-style changes. The success you will experience has a lot to do with which of these reasons inspire you. We need to look at each of these reasons individually to be able to have an expectation of what can be accomplished.
You have perhaps seen statements like “I lost 10 lbs in 3 days!” That is most likely correct. A 3 day-detox diet will normally produce weightloss of five to ten pounds in many people. That’s great if you just want to drop a few pounds fast. The difficulty is in retaining the weight loss after you complete the cleansing diet. If you don’t change any of the things that led to the weight in the first place the weight comes back nearly every time. You don’t want to fall into a cycle of diet…add it back…diet again…add it back. In the long term you won’t achieve anything and can do more harm than good. If the only goal is to shed weight a dedication to a long term dieting and weight management program is your best alternative.
Detoxifying the body of impurities and poisons is really what a 3 day detox is intended to do. Weight-loss is just a welcome side effect. More importantly these diets are a fantastic way to swiftly clean out your system by flushing away excess poisons. This is achieved by increasing the intake of water and natural fruit and vegetable juices while lowering the intake of foods containing things that foul your system. Routinely cleaning the body of excess poisons aides the bodies natural process of filtering out poisons. This is why people often state that they “feel better”. The true importance of a detox diet is helping your body do what it is already attempting to do…getting free of the things your body doesn’t like or need. Many people routinely do a brief cleanse to help their body cleanse more successfully.
The third incentive was to use a 3 day-detox as a starting point on the road to a bigger goal of healthier living and eating for energy. Honestly, it won’t do alot of good to do a quick cleaning and then do nothing else. Any advantage you get will not last long. To really be healthier involves making some improvements. If you do a 3 day-detox and follow that up with some simple adjustments in food intake and exercise, you will see encouraging change that lasts. The great news is that even small improvements can give enormous improvements. Let’s say, for example, the you do a detoxifying diet for 3 days….and make a commitment to drink 2 liters of water every day after that. Add an orange for breakfast instead of a pop-tart, and have an apple at lunch instead of chips. You have augmented your intake of great stuff and decreased your consumption of bad stuff. Give yourself time to get used to these small modifications and make them way of life. The next time you cleanse (possibly in one or two months), make a few more small improvements in food intake or exercise. A 30 minute stimulating walk daily is a good objective. In a years time it will alter your existence.
No matter what your reason for thinking about a 3 day-detox, take time to settle on some possible goals and work out what you expect to achieve.

I tried one and it feels like a fresh start, defiantly recommended.
